Tour Overview

Where gods live (Swoyambhunath, Kathmandu Durbar Square & Pashupatinath). This interactive day tour immerses you in the essence of the spiritual and cultural existence of Kathmandu.

This tour visits three major sites — Swoyambhunath (Monkey Temple), Kathmandu Durbar Square, and Pashupatinath Temple — a blend of divine energy, ancient legends, and exquisite architecture. The tour lasts approximately 7 hours.

The tour begins at 9:00 am with hotel pickup. Your guide provides a brief overview of the agenda before the journey into the heart of Kathmandu’s spiritual roots.

At Swoyambhunath, you take the western path past Saraswati Temple and a peaceful pond area, then climb the famous staircase of 365 steps to the main stupa. The ancient monument is reputed to have emerged from a lotus flower, and features the Bajra (thunderbolt), Anantapur and Pratappur shrines, and Harati Mata Temple.

At Kathmandu Durbar Square (Hanuman Dhoka / Basantapur), the tour enters the Museum of Temples — more than 50 temples in one complex. Highlights include Kasthamandap, Maru Ganesh, Shiva Narayan Temple, Kal Bhairav statue, and Jagannath Temple renowned for its erotic wood carvings.

The final stop is Pashupatinath Temple, where you observe the riverside cremation ghats and sacred shrines along the Bagmati River. Your guide explains the Hindu tradition of cremation and the deep spiritual significance of this UNESCO World Heritage Site.
