Tour Overview
Discover Bhutan, on a 5-day religious exploration, delving into the heart of Mahayana Buddhism and Bhutanese culture. This immersive journey takes you through a land that has preserved its unique identity and pristine ecology, shaped by centuries of Buddhist philosophy and self-imposed isolation.
Your adventure begins with a breathtaking flight into Paro, followed by a transfer to Thimphu, a capital like no other, where tradition meets modernity. Explore the National Library, home to priceless Buddhist manuscripts, and the Institute for Zorig Chusum, where you’ll witness Bhutan’s 13 traditional arts and crafts. Visit the Textile Museum to gain insights into Bhutan’s distinctive art form. Reflect at the King’s Memorial Chorten, a monument to peace and prosperity, and later explore the impressive Tashichho Dzong.
Journey to Paro and visit the oldest fortress, Simtokha Dzong, built in 1627, which now houses the School for Buddhist studies. Visit Ta Dzong (now the National Museum) showcasing antique Thangkha paintings, textiles, and artifacts. A short walk leads to Rinpung Dzong, the fortress of the heap of jewels, adorned with wall paintings illustrating Buddhist lore.
The climax of the trip is an excursion to the iconic Tiger’s Nest Monastery (Taktshang), a sacred site perched dramatically on a cliffside. You will also visit Kyichu Lhakhang, one of the oldest temples built in the Himalayas in the 7th century, marking the introduction of Buddhism in Bhutan.
