Tour Overview

Discover the perfect mix of scenic hiking, cultural heritage, and Himalayan views with the 7-day Nagarkot Hike, ideal for travellers seeking a short yet rewarding trek near Kathmandu. Organised by Destiny Excursion, this easy-going trail hike takes you through lush forests, charming villages, and the serene trails of Shivapuri National Park.

During the three days of active hiking, you will see the sunrise on the snow-covered Himalayas in Nagarkot (2,195m), visit the UNESCO World Heritage Sites in Kathmandu and Bhaktapur, and spend some time in quiet nature. This trek is suitable for all age groups and fitness levels, but is particularly beautiful in spring when rhododendrons are in flower and the skies remain crystal clear.

The trek takes you through the peaceful trails of Shivapuri National Park, a protected area filled with lush forests, birdsong, and seasonal wildlife. The trail rises gradually, making it easy to walk for most age groups, including seniors and kids. Along the way, you will pass through peaceful hills, green terraced farms, and small local villages, enjoying views of the distant Himalayas.

The most notable part of the trip is Nagarkot, a well-known hillside village at 2,195m (7,201ft). Here you will witness one of the most beautiful sunrises in Nepal — the tips of the Himalayan range, including Langtang, Dorje Lakpa, and even Everest on a clear day, turning golden and pink as morning light appears on the eastern horizon.

You will also visit some of the most famous cultural places in Nepal, including a guided tour to Swoyambhunath Stupa (Monkey Temple), Kathmandu Durbar Square, and Bhaktapur Durbar Square. Spring (March to May) is the best time to go, when forests are alive with blooming rhododendrons and skies are clear.
